A translation service you can use without reading Dutch
Sworn Translation Online is the English-language service of Ecrivus International, a translation company in Maastricht-Airport that has worked with sworn translators since 2006. It exists for people who live, work or study in the Netherlands and have to hand in a document at a Dutch counter.
Why an English-language service
Most Dutch translation companies write for Dutch customers. That works until you are the one standing at the town hall with a birth certificate in Hindi and a letter you cannot read. The rules are the same for you, but nobody has explained them in your language.
Here the order form, the confirmation and the answers to your questions are in English. The translation itself is made into whichever language the authority asks for, usually Dutch.
The translators
Every translation is made by a translator who is entered in the Rbtv, the Dutch register of sworn interpreters and translators. The translator's Wbtv number is on the statement, and you can look it up in the public register.
We match the translator to the document. A diploma goes to someone who knows how grades and degree titles are rendered; a court order goes to a legal translator. Some languages have only a few sworn translators in the Netherlands. For those, ask for a quote first, so that you have a delivery date before you pay.
The company behind it
Ecrivus International is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 14093828 and is based at Vliegveldweg 106 in Maastricht-Airport. The same company runs several specialised sites; this one is the English-language entrance.
